My father's father's father's father

Edward and his wife, May, begat John somewhere in the Irish Free State round about 1857, and, a dozen years later, brought him and the other kids (William, Edward, Joseph, and May) to the United States.

John and his wife (name unknown) begat James Patrick in Brooklyn, NY. in 1890.  John subsequently begat at least two other children, Catherine and Francis.

James Patrick and his wife, Anna Mahoney, begat Daniel James in Philadelphia, PA in 1914 (and, 8 years later, Margaret, called "Peggy").

Daniel James and his wife, Catherine Druding, begat John (1939), Daniel (1944), and Patrick (1947) in Philadelphia, PA.
