Faith or Works?

From last Sunday's readings:

For we consider that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law.

Rom. 3

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

Mt. 7

The first quotation says faith is the key; the second says works.
