A couple weeks ago, the wonderful wife and I paid a lawyer a zillion dollars to type up documents: power of attorney, living will, will, and living trust. Probably not worth the effort or the expense, but we did it anyway. The goal is to make it a little easier for Cassie when we die. And I think it will, if for no other reason than that the process forced us to pull together a lot of papers and other information that she would have had to search for.
A couple days ago we transferred our bank accounts into THE LARKINS LIVING TRUST 29OCT09. Today I went down to the Fairfax County Court House and registered a deed to the house in the name of the trust -- it was waaaay easier than I thought it would be -- and I started filling out some forms to reissue savings bonds in the name of the trust.
Not much more to do. Mainly name the trust as a contingent beneficiary of our insurance and retirement accounts.
