I biked out to Smith's Switch Friday morning. It's on the W&OD trail at mile marker 25.5 (14.5 miles from our house.) I assume it used to be a place where trains would switch from one track to another (or from one direction to another) but all I can find on the web is: "Smith's Switch -- a comfort station on the W&OD."
The ride out was very nice. The ride back was work. I'm beginning to see a pattern.

It never ceased to amaze me, in the days when I was running, how an "outbound" trip could be so much up hill, and the return trip be just as uphill.
