Internet ads

I know I'm supposed to be worried about tracking cookies (and worse?) that  monitor my activity on the web.  These cookies, among other things, let businesses precisely target the ads they show me.

Well, maybe not "precisely."

My "Words with Friends" screen right now is pushing:
  • real estate in Rockville and D.C.,
  • a car dealership,
  • two furniture stores, and
  • "Bubble Safari," which invites me to join Bubble the Monkey and friends in the jungles of Bubble Safari.
and my facebook page thinks I'm interested in:
  • the University of Phoenix (in both its Baltimore and Washington incarnations),
  • girls on facebook, and
  • blackjack and a war game.

My privacy doesn't appear to be in immanent danger.
