A full service garage

C&C Garage, that is.

And when I say full-service, I mean FULL-service.

One of the legs broke off our sofa recently. Actually, what broke were the screws holding one of the metal legs to the metal plate that runs around the base of the sofa.
I tried super glue, but of course that didn't work. One drop may be enough to hang a pickup truck from a goal post, but it's not enough to attach anything else to . . . anything else.

I then hunted high and low for screws that I could use, but I couldn't find any with the right thread. I decided (I don't know why) that maybe an auto parts store would have screws that might fit, so I took the sofa leg down to C&C to ask Scott where I could find some screws that might fit the thing. Scott, whom I knew from many visits in which I regularly hand him large amounts of money, passed me on to Jack, whom I didn't know. Jack puzzled over the problem for a few minutes, decided that no common screw was going to work, picked up a tap, and proceeded to tap 8-32 threads into the leg. Problem solved.

And Jack wouldn't even accept any money for his help.

A full-service garage indeed.
