I signed up for Google Voice a year and a half ago. Two weeks ago I finally figured out what to do with it. I'm using it as an answering machine for the CHO furniture program
When someone leaves a message, I learn of it immediately via a text message to my cell phone from Google Voice.
If I then call Google Voice from either my cell phone or my computer, I can listen to the voice mail and see a transcription of it -- a transcription that includes the phone number that the caller phoned from.
If I'm interested, I can click on a button to return the call -- and I can return the call from either my cell phone or my home phone.
And as I'm talking to the donor, I can attach a note to the transcript of the voice mail.
All very cool and very useful.
