Small town life

This afternoon, I ran some errands:
  • Pick up shirts from the cleaners (we go about three times a year now that I'm retired, not three times a month)
  • Pick up medicine from the drug store (HCTZ, $2.24)
  • Buy food at the supermarket for Mary Ellen and for me (we're on different diets; mine allows wine)
  • Buy drywall compound ("mud") and sandpaper at the hardware store; swap yarns with the owner
  • Buy "sticks" and "dowels" and "craftPicks" and "match sticks" at the craft store.
And I did it all without going more than six blocks from home. Sweet!

Postscript: We're finishing a doll house for our perfect granddaughter. The drywall compound will stucco the exterior walls (I hope). The sandpaper will make very nice roofing shingles (I hope). The "sticks," "dowels," et cetera will be 2 x 4s, drapery rods, and window frames -- I hope.
