Can this be right?

If I'm reading this right, Dulles Airport received 5 inches of rain today between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

5 inches of rain corresponds, in some sense*, to 50 inches of snow.

Yoicks! I guess I shouldn't be too distressed that we took a little water in our basement.
