Jo Stafford died a couple weeks ago. Why don't you tell me these things?! What am I paying you for?!

She was probably the most under-rated of the great big-band singers, and her career outlasted the big band era.

I just spent 25 minutes on YouTube listening to her stuff ("Jambalaya," "You belong to me," etc. etc.) On one of the clips, she outsang Ella Fitzgerald! Go have a listen. Just search for Jo Stafford.

Update: And don't miss the clip where she and Ella sing with Benny Goodman and Harry James (and Red Norvo?).
