The Writer's Almanac tells us that today is the birthday of Saint Ignatius Loyola and of J.K. Rowling. Ignatius's remembrance takes only 69 words; Ms. Rowling's, 675.
(Sigh.)
The imbalance reminds me of our visit to the Vatican's Necropolis a few months ago. A large crowd of people was gathered in front of the tomb of John Paul II, many of them kneeling and praying aloud; it was actually difficult to get past them (which we very much wanted to do). Not 30 feet away was the tomb of Peter. Total number of people there? Zero.
